Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital is seeking a Float Patient Care Technician to perform basic nursing care under RN supervision. The role supports patient monitoring, daily living activities, and unit workflow during flexible 12-hour shifts.

The position requires high school completion, clinical rotation for nursing students or CNA/CMA/EMT certification, plus CPR/BLS. Benefits include tuition reimbursement and strong health coverage.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Nursing students who have completed one clinical rotation, or must be certified as a CNA, CMA, or EMT.
• CPR – Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and taking blood glucose measurements.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming and eating.
• Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Assists with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Prioritizes unit workflow and communicates with staff and family as needed.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other patient-related departments.

Education
