Job summary

Quality Correctional Care is seeking licensed practical or registered nurses to join our team across correctional facilities in Indiana. You will administer medications, perform intakes, handle sick calls, and manage chronic care with a focus on safety, compliance, and patient education.

Ideal candidates hold Indiana or Compact licensure, CPR certification, and are comfortable working in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Active Indiana or Compact LPN/RN license is required.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive nursing care to incarcerated patients.
• Administer medications as prescribed.
• Perform medical intakes and assess fitness for incarceration.
• Respond to sick call requests and follow up with providers.
• Change dressings and perform 14-day physicals.
• Manage chronic care and provide patient education.
• Respond to medical emergencies and lead in emergencies.
• Maintain pharmacology knowledge and cost awareness.
• Provide guidance to Medically Trained Personnel and ensure regulatory compliance.

Nursing Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following:
  • Administer medications
  • Perform medical intakes and asses if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed
  • Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed
  • Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider
  • Performing 14-day physicals
  • Managing chronic care
  • Providing patient education on health concerns
  • Responding to medical emergencies
    • Be capable of performing life saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency.
  • Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs
  • Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed.
  • Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations

Location: Floating to various correctional facilities throughout the NE part of Indiana. Candidate must live in the state of Indiana or nearby in a neighboring state (and be licensed to work in Indiana).

**Shift Opening(s):**Availability for dayshift and nightshift and weekends. Travel accommodations provided with potential for company vehicle, as well.

Requirements:

• Valid Indiana or Compact LPN or RN licensure
• Valid CPR certification
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
