Job summary

Quality Correctional Care, a mission-driven organization serving justice-involved patients in Indiana, seeks licensed nurses (LPN/RN) for floating assignments across NW facilities. Candidates must hold Indiana or Compact licensure and CPR certification, with the ability to work days, nights, and weekends.

The role emphasizes administering medications, performing intakes, and providing patient education while ensuring safety in correctional settings and compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

  • Valid Indiana or Compact LPN or RN licensure.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients.
  • Administer medications.
  • Perform medical intakes and assess if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed.
  • Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed.
  • Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider.
  • Performing 14-day physicals.
  • Managing chronic care.
  • Providing patient education on health concerns.
  • Responding to medical emergencies with life‑saving measures.
  • Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology and related costs.
  • Provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel as needed.
  • Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations.

Nursing Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following:
    • Administer medications
    • Perform medical intakes and assess if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed
    • Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed
    • Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider
    • Performing 14-day physicals
    • Managing chronic care
    • Providing patient education on health concerns
    • Responding to medical emergencies
      • Be capable of performing life‑saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency
    • Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non‑formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs
    • Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed
    • Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations

Location: Floating to various correctional facilities throughout the NW part of Indiana. Candidate must live in the state of Indiana or nearby in a neighboring state (and be licensed to work in Indiana).

Shift Opening(s): Availability for dayshift and nightshift and weekends. Travel accommodations provided with potential for company vehicle, as well.
