We seek dedicated nursing professionals with Indiana or Compact licensure who can stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and deliver comprehensive care in a correctional setting while adhering to all laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Active Indiana or Compact LPN/RN license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to push, pull, reach and bend frequently.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications and perform medical intakes.
  • Assess patient fitness for incarceration and triage as needed.
  • Respond to sick call requests and coordinate with medical providers.
  • Change dressings as required by the medical provider and perform 14‑day physicals.
  • Manage chronic care and provide patient education on health concerns.
  • Respond to medical emergencies with life‑saving measures and leadership.

Nursing Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients, including:
    • Administer medications
    • Perform medical intakes and assess if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed
    • Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed
    • Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider
    • Perform 14-day physicals
    • Manage chronic care
    • Provide patient education on health concerns
    • Respond to medical emergencies, including life-saving measures and taking charge and giving direction in an emergency
  • Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including drug reactions/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs
  • Provide insight and direction to medically trained personnel, as needed
  • Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations
Location

Floating to various correctional facilities throughout Southern Indiana. Candidate must live in the state of Indiana or a neighboring state.

Shift Openings

Availability for dayshift, nightshift, and weekends. Travel accommodations provided with potential for company vehicle.

Requirements
  • Valid Indiana or Compact LPN or RN licensure
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
