Job summary

Quality Correctional Care (QCC) is seeking licensed practical or registered nurses to provide comprehensive medical care at Bartholomew County Jail, Columbus, Indiana. Night shifts are 7 PM–7 AM, three days per week, with every other weekend rotation.

You will administer medications, perform intakes, respond to sick calls, manage chronic care, and participate in emergencies while upholding safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid LPN or RN license.
• CPR certification required.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to inmates.
• Administer medications.
• Perform medical intakes and assess fitness for incarceration.
• Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider.
• Check and change dressings as directed.
• Perform 14-day physicals.
• Manage chronic care and provide patient education.
• Respond to medical emergencies and lead in life-saving situations.
• Maintain pharmacology knowledge and cost awareness.
• Provide guidance to Medically Trained Personnel.
• Comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Nursing Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following:
• Administer medications
• Perform medical intakes and assess if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed
• Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed
• Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider
• Performing 14-day physicals
• Managing chronic care
• Providing patient education on health concerns
• Responding to medical emergencies
• Be capable of performing life saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency
• Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs
• Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed.
• Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations

Location: Bartholomew County Jail, Columbus, Indiana

Shift Opening(s): 7 PM to 7 AM, 3 days per week with every other weekend rotation
Compensation: LPN: $32-$36+/hour depending on experience
RN: $37-$40+/hour depending on experience

Requirements:

• Valid LPN or RN licensure
• Valid CPR certification
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
