Job summary

ReDiscover is seeking a Float Nurse to join the Medication Services Department in Kansas City, MO. This full-time day shift role involves completing initial assessments, evaluating client conditions, and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team.

You will educate clients and families about medications, monitor side effects, and document interactions in the EMR. Travel up to 25% to multiple clinic sites is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Active Missouri RN or LPN license.
• At least two years of clinical mental health experience preferred.
• Knowledge of community resources in Kansas City metro.
• Excellent customer service and recovery-focused approach.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete initial assessment/history for all clients entering treatment.
• Make clinical evaluations using assessment data and coordinate referrals.
• Educate clients and families on symptoms, medications and side effects.
• Provide a trauma-informed, welcoming approach to clients and visitors.
• Document interactions in ReDiscover’s EMR and maintain accurate records.

About the Medication Services Program

At ReDiscover, our Medication Services Program plays a vital role in helping individuals achieve stability, hope, and wellness. Through our Med Clinics - located across several ReDiscover sites - our compassionate team partners with clients to evaluate their needs, prescribe appropriate medications, and provide ongoing monitoring and support.

What You’ll Do

• Complete initial assessment/history on all clients entering treatment.
• Strategically use assessment information to make an appropriate clinical evaluation of client's current conditions in a timely manner. This includes (but not limited to) making appropriate referrals, consulting with physician, and/or educating the client as appropriate.
• Educate client and families on symptoms, medications and side effects.
• Provide a welcoming approach towards all clients, visitors and guests from a trauma informed approach.
• Collect and maintain information about clients and document interactions within ReDiscover’s designated electronic medical record.
• Communicate and collaborate with an internal multi-disciplinary team to address various aspects of wellness and ensure positive communication regarding the coordination of client care.

Requirements of the Position

• Availability to work a Full-Time, (40-hours a week), (Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm)
• Main Clinic Location: (Bannister) - 5904 Bannister Rd, Suite A, Kansas City, Mo..
• Floating when needed to the following locations
  • (Fearon) - 901 NE Independence, Lee's Summit, Mo.
  • (Lee's Summit) - 1535 NE Rice Road, Lee's Summit, Mo.
  • (South) - 6801 South 117th Street, KCMO
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Active Missouri license as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse (or the ability to practice as an RN or LPN in the state of Missouri).
• At least two (2) years clinical experience in a direct service provision in a mental health setting preferred.
• Knowledge of the community resources as well as health and social service systems in the Kansas City metro area and skill in establishing working relationships with community partners preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
• Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as use of email.
