Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Float Medical Assistant to join our team. The MA will support physicians and nursing staff across clinics, perform routine procedures, document patient information, and ensure high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, MA certification (or ability to obtain within 180 days), BLS certification at hire or within 30 days, and travel within the market.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or the ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers (written exam and in-person assessment) at time of hire or within 30 days of hire.
• Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Proven good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to travel frequently within assigned market.
• Reliable transportation for daily travel to various clinics as assigned.
• Valid drivers license within the state of work.
• Tuberculosis screening and immunity requirements for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis.

Responsibilities

• Operates diagnostic equipment and assists with patient care under supervision.
• Rooms patients and prepares for examination.
• Records patient care documentation accurately and timely.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and policies.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and respectful interactions.
• Organizes exam and treatment rooms and sterilizes instruments.
• Follows infection control precautions and safety protocols.
• Supports and follows Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
