Job summary

Upperline Health is seeking a Float Medical Assistant to support physicians in delivering high-quality care across our Carmel and West Indianapolis clinics. The role involves a mix of clinical and administrative tasks, requiring flexibility, strong teamwork, and a willingness to learn.

Ideal candidates have podiatry or orthopedic exposure and x-ray experience. Responsibilities include patient prep, intake, vitals, EMR documentation, assisting in exams, and coordinating care.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
• Podiatry or Orthopedic clinic experience preferred.
• X-ray experience is a plus.
• Clinical care coordination or care management experience is ideal.
• Experience assisting or providing care to geriatric patients preferred.
• Excellent computer skills and strong knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience working in an EMR, preferably athenahealth.
• Effective communication with strong grammar and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Place patients in exam rooms and prepare them for the physician appointment.
• Complete exam intake, including medical history and related histories.
• Take vitals and document in the EMR (athenahealth).
• Assist in exams and take x-rays as required.
• Perform daily administrative tasks and restock exam rooms.
• Clean and sterilize exam and x-ray rooms after each patient and daily.
• Conduct health assessments and visits with Upperline Plus patients.
• Telephonic outreach to coordinate ongoing preventative care.
• Coordinate care through medical records requests, referrals, and appointments.
• Travel to nearby clinics to provide support if needed.
