Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum Pacific West region is seeking a Float Medical Assistant to provide high-quality patient care across multiple clinics in California. You will support short-term staffing needs and may assist with remote outreach and telephonic tasks, while building strong relationships with patients, families, and care teams.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program.
• BLS certification from AHA or willingness to obtain by hire date.
• 3+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Access to reliable transportation to travel to sites within the designated region.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care face-to-face, by phone, and electronically across multiple clinics.
• Collect and document patient information including vitals, chief complaints, medications, allergies, and health screening details.
• Assist physicians and nursing staff with injections, EKGs, phlebotomy, and other procedures.
• Coordinate patient care as directed by physicians, company standards, and policies.
• Handle tasks, phone calls, and messages; document actions taken.
• Ensure accurate EMR and paper-based documentation for assessments and procedures.
• Prepare and clean patient rooms and set up instruments per protocol; maintain infection control.
