Job summary

IU Health West Region is seeking a Medical Assistant to room patients, obtain vitals, and support providers across multiple regional clinics including Lafayette. The role combines ~80% patient care with 20% administrative tasks in a fast-paced setting.

You’ll travel to various clinics as needed, learn multiple workflows, and help ensure timely, high-quality patient care in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required.
• Current certification in medical assisting from CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/CMAC is preferred or required by unit.
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• TB validated or validation within 6 months of hire preferred.
• Knowledge of Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs within 6 months of hire.
• Basic math and accurate data collection/entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain vital signs and health histories.
• Assist with patient intake and registration.
• Perform point-of-care testing.
• Support providers during patient visits.
• Review discharge instructions and follow-up care plans.
• Adapt to different clinic workflows while maintaining patient care.
