Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking dedicated Medical Assistants to provide direct patient care and support the clinical team in a busy hospital setting. You will assist with procedures, maintain EMR documentation, and help with registration and scheduling to ensure smooth patient flow.

The role requires BLS certification, a relevant Medical Assistant credential, and knowledge of ICD-10/CPT coding, OSHA/CLIA/ADA regulations.

Qualifications

• AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from a Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Current certification in medical assisting from recognized agencies (CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/CMAC/NHA).
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required.
• TB validation or within 6 months of hire preferred.
• Knowledge of Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures.
• Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers.
• Ability to master standard clinical competencies per policy and checklists.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and clinical direction under supervision.
• Ensure completeness of ordered procedures and treatments and smooth patient flow.
• Perform general lab work and instruct patients on procedures and needs.
• Handle registration and scheduling per procedures; maintain EMR files.
• Front office support as needed and, if directed, perform computerized physician order entry.
• Precept MA team members or externs as requested by leadership.
