Job summary

PPMM is seeking a Float Health Services Specialist I (Medical Assistant) to support multiple health centers in the Sacramento area. The role is full-time, on-site, with travel to several locations as needed. Responsibilities include direct patient care, front-office duties, lab testing, and data entry in the EPM system.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a busy healthcare setting while following PPMM policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to communicate sensitive information across diverse backgrounds.
• Familiarity with Windows-based computer applications and willingness to learn more.
• Capable of working in a busy environment with accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Travels to PPMM locations as required.
• Provides direct service in health center areas including reproductive health and abortion where appropriate.
• Educates patients about Planned Parenthood services, contraception, options and funding.
• Maintains patient flow and helps meet health center productivity goals.
• Records financial, medical and social history with proper documentation.
• Handles front desk tasks, scheduling, and patient check-out.
• Enters patient data into the Electronic Practice Management System (EPM).
• Performs lab testing such as pregnancy tests and STI testing; collects specimens.
