Job summary

AdventHealth Oviedo is seeking a friendly patient access specialist to handle registrations for clinics across Oviedo, Lake Mary, Waterford Lakes and surrounding areas. You will verify insurance, collect co-pays, and answer patient questions to ensure accurate and timely processing.

Requires excellent communication, basic computer skills, and a dedication to compassionate service. This full-time role offers mileage support and a day-shift schedule with weekend coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ customer service experience required.
• Computer experience required.
• Relevant experience, preferably in hospital or hospitality industry.

Responsibilities

• Answers telephone and responds to patient questions to ensure resolution.
• Registers patients with demographic, employment, insurance, and medical information accurately.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and determines upfront collection amounts.
• Supports clinics across Oviedo, Lake Mary, Waterford Lakes and nearby areas.
• Participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives.

Job Description

Schedule: Full Time

Shift: Requires full availability weekdays 730am-8pm & weekends 730am-5pm.

Location: Will provide support to clinics between Oviedo, Lake Mary, Waterford Lakes, & surrounding areas. Mileage support is provided.

Answers telephone, responds to patient questions and concerns to ensure prompt, accurate resolution is achieved. Handles various job tasks simultaneously. Demonstrates age-specific communication skills for patients with the ability to assess and interpret relevant data. Communicates with the patient or guarantor to obtain demographic, employment, insurance, and current medical condition information in order to perform accurate registration. Handles “release of information” requests for patients, referring offices, other medical facilities, attorneys, and insurance companies. Verifies insurance eligibility and determines accurate up-front collection amount. Prepares, processes, and files the medical record for each patient as required by patient type for documentation by physician and medical personnel. Participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.
• Ability to operate a computer, copier, fax, and scanner.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and others of diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to request and collect co-pays and outstanding balances.
• Must have highly developed social and communication skills.
• Excellent judgment and the ability to stay calm and level-headed in difficult situations.
• Proficiency in word processing/typing.
• Strong customer service skills.

Education

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience

• 3+ customer service experience [Required]
