Job summary

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, AL is seeking a Flightline Avionics Technician - A320 to perform FTP, pre/post flight inspections and test aircraft systems.

Qualifications

  • 3 years’ experience with Applied Science in Avionics, A&P, or FCC license.
  • Ability to obtain a Repairman Certificate.
  • Valid Driver License.
  • Must be willing to work a Rotation shift schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport which allows unrestricted travel.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years minimum aviation experience, preferably in an aviation manufacturing or MRO environment.
  • EASA/TCCA Regulations.
  • Valid A&P or FCC License.

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Flightline Avionics Technician - A320 based in Mobile, AL.

Responsible for performing Functional Test Procedure (FTP), Pre & Post Flight inspection; preparing built aircraft for test flight and delivery readiness. This includes operating, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and inspecting aircraft systems using approved aircraft data. Proficiently operate and understand a wide variety of test equipment and tooling. Must be able to interpret technical manuals, drawings and engineering data to support tasks. Complete assigned tasks within the allocated man‑hour budget and meet the guidelines of safety regulations, on quality and on cost.

Primary Responsibilities: 70%
  • Perform aircraft system Functional Test Procedure Test (FTP) / Pre /Post flight Daily Inspection (DI) check list / prepare built aircraft for test flight readiness.
  • Ability to learn new tasks and techniques in trouble shoot aircraft systems and support Flightline operation at Airbus FAL Mobile Flight line Organization.
  • Ability to perform and follow level 1 troubleshooting procedure and report / document findings precisely IAW recommended instruction. This includes performance of integrated systems testing, calibration, alignment, troubleshooting and repair of airborne electronic flight control, navigational and heating systems.
  • Performs pre‑test, operational (functional) or final testing of electronic systems, components or sub‑assemblies. Performs final tuning, alignment or calibration of electronic systems, components or sub‑assemblies. Troubleshoots electronic systems, components or sub‑assemblies to determine nature of malfunction and corrective action required.
  • Perform Post dock maintenance daily checklist / Safety and security / Incoming inspection.
  • Perform day to day planned and unplanned aircraft maintenance family.
  • Perform pre induction first flight configuration / incoming inspection cabin interior, cockpit, electronic bays to ensure safety and security before first flight.
  • Set up and operate ground support and test equipment to perform functional flight tests of electrical and electronic systems.
  • Test and troubleshoot instruments, components, and assembles, using circuit testers, or volt meters.
  • Ability to verify and upgrade to the latest version of aircraft avionic software.
  • Work closely with the systems engineer to interpret the flight test data to diagnose malfunctions and systemic performance problems.
  • Maintain close working relationship with assigned lead person with regard to schedules, priorities, availability of parts, supplies and tools, and special instructions as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities: 20%
  • Basic knowledge of electrical/Mechanical theory and thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, and dial indicators, micrometers and powered/non‑powered support equipment.
  • Performs a variety of operations in preparing, sealing and testing, using a thorough knowledge of all aircraft sealing techniques, various sealant characteristics such as storage, application, tack‑free and cure times.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting approved aircraft diagrams, charts, schematics and maintenance procedures: AMM/IPC/AWD/SB.
  • Participate in process improvement, root cause analysis, 5S, and all applicable tools for improving work load, quality, safety and reducing cycle time.
  • Participate in the team daily SQCDP project and daily tool / FOD management.
  • Ability to perform work in the confined space area, height condition and outdoor environment condition.
  • Must be able to support and train other aircraft technicians with technical knowledge and skills.
  • Use a variety of standard and specialized hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices and test equipment in completing work assignments, and jigs/fixtures with associated license, such as but not limited to: crane, cherry‑picker, forklift, lifting platform, loading platform.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations regarding confined space entry, respiratory protection, proper use of respirator.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions because of the degree of responsibility.
