Job Description: Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Flightline Avionics Technician - A320 based in Mobile, AL.

Responsible for performing Functional Test Procedure (FTP), Pre & Post Flight inspection, preparing built aircraft for test flight and delivery readiness. This includes operating, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and inspecting aircraft systems using approved aircraft data. Proficiently operate and understand a wide variety of test equipment and tooling. Must be able to interpret technical manuals, drawings and engineering data to support tasks. Complete assigned tasks within the allocated man-hour budget and meet the guidelines of safety regulations, quality and cost.

The team at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facilities help assemble the finest aircraft in the world, with production lines for the A220 and A320 Family aircraft. You’ll work alongside individuals skilled in electrical, structure and quality to help build the next generation of aircraft. Nearby on ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft, opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015.

Your responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities: 70%

  • Perform aircraft system Functional Test Procedure (FTP) / Pre/Post flight Daily Inspection (DI) check list and prepare built aircraft for test flight readiness.
  • Learn new tasks and techniques to troubleshoot aircraft systems and support Flightline operations at Airbus FAL Mobile Flight line Organization.
  • Perform and follow Level 1 troubleshooting procedures, report/document findings as instructed. Conduct integrated systems testing, calibration, alignment, troubleshooting and repair of airborne electronic flight control, navigational and heating systems. Perform pretest, operational or final testing of electronic systems, components or subassemblies; final tuning, alignment or calibration as required.
  • Perform Post-dock maintenance daily checklist, safety and security, and incoming inspections.
  • Perform day-to-day planned and unplanned aircraft maintenance.
  • Perform pre-induction first flight configuration / incoming inspection of cabin interior, cockpit, electronic bays to ensure safety before first flight.
  • Set up and operate ground support and test equipment to perform functional flight tests of electrical and electronic systems.
  • Test and troubleshoot instruments, components, and assemblies using circuit testers or voltmeters.
  • Verify and upgrade to the latest version of aircraft avionic software.
  • Collaborate with the systems engineer to interpret flight test data to diagnose malfunctions and systemic performance problems.
  • Maintain close working relationship with the assigned lead regarding schedules, priorities, parts availability, and tools as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities: 20%

  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical/mechanical theory and aircraft-specific tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers and power/ground support equipment.
  • Experience with aircraft sealing techniques and sealants, including storage, application, tack-free and cure times.
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams, charts, schematics and maintenance procedures (AMM/IPC/AWD/SB).
  • Participation in process improvement, root-cause analysis, 5S, and related tools to improve workload, quality, safety and reduce cycle time.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in outdoor environments.
  • Capability to train other technicians with technical knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the lead regarding schedules, priorities, parts, tools and instructions.
  • Use standard and specialized hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices and test equipment; operate jigs/fixtures with required licenses (e.g., crane, cherry-pickers, forklift, lifting platforms).
  • Knowledge of regulations regarding confined space entry and respiratory protection.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions due to the degree of responsibility.

  • 3 years’ experience with Applied Science in Avionics, A&P, or FCC license.
  • Ability to obtain a Repairman Certificate.
  • Valid Driver License.
  • Willingness to work a rotation shift schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport for unrestricted travel.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years minimum aviation experience (preferred).
  • EASA/TCCA Regulations; Valid A&P or FCC License.
  • Ability to read, understand and apply oral and written instructions; effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic operating computer skills (Email/Google Workspace/Data entry).
  • Travel Required: 5% domestic and international.
  • Authorized to Work in the US.
Physical Requirements
  • Vision, hearing, speaking sufficient for normal business conversations and computer use.
  • Operate standard office and ground support equipment; lift up to 40 lbs./18 kg; push/pull up to 500 lbs on wheels.
  • Sitting, standing, kneeling, and walking as required; travel domestically and/or internationally for training or offsite recovery.
  • Work in varying weather conditions.
