Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers delivering embedded and flight software for SmallSat Avionics Software. You will provide technical and functional leadership across programs and collaborate with program leadership, systems, hardware, and test teams to ensure on‑time delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in software engineering and systems execution in mission‑critical environments.
• Understanding of embedded flight software or safety‑critical development.
• Strong systems engineering mindset covering software, hardware and integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of software engineers developing, integrating, and testing embedded and flight software.
• Provide technical leadership and resolve complex software and system issues.
• Coordinate priorities, staffing, schedules, risks, and dependencies with program leadership.
• Support software planning, release execution, integration, and test activities.
• Monitor execution against commitments and identify risks with mitigation plans.
• Promote disciplined software practices: CM, code reviews, automated tests, CI/CD, defect management, traceability.
• Work with leads to define architecture, approaches, and priorities.
• Communicate status, risks, and recovery plans to leadership and customers.
• Provide functional management including performance, mentoring, staffing and engagement.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, workforce planning and talent development.
• Foster collaborative culture focused on technical excellence and program success.
