Job summary

Varda Space Industries is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer for the Flight Software team. You will determine how our spacecraft behaves in orbit and build reliable software to ensure it operates as designed.

The role covers all phases from requirements capture to test and flight operations, developing firmware for spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule. Strong C++ and real-time embedded systems experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Math/Physics/Engineering or equivalent in safety-critical software.
• 3+ years of experience developing spacecraft or safety-critical software.
• Experience with real-time embedded hardware/software systems.
• Experience with C++ and strong understanding of language concepts.

Responsibilities

• Determine spacecraft behavior in orbit and build reliable software.
• Handle all development phases from requirements capture through test and flight operational support.
• Develop reliable firmware to control spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operations.
• Own all aspects of software development: design, testing, integration.
• Scope projects with requirements capture and initial design trades for open-ended problems.
• Write quality structured bare metal, RTOS, or Linux-based embedded software in C++.
• Ensure system quality and performance through software test, verification, and validation (V&V).
