Job summary

Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Flight Software Engineer to join the in-house software team that defines spacecraft behavior in orbit. You will design, develop, and maintain reliable flight software for embedded processors in C++, spanning bare metal, RTOS, and Linux environments.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in a technical field and 3+ years of experience in spacecraft or safety-critical software, with strong C++ background and a passion for space-grade engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (computer science, math, physics, engineering or equivalent).
• 3+ years of experience developing spacecraft or safety-critical software.
• Experience with C++ and strong understanding of language concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop reliable flight software that governs spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operations.
• Write structured C++ software for embedded processors in bare metal, RTOS, or Linux environments.
• Own all aspects of software development from design to testing and integration.
• Capture requirements and perform initial design trades for open-ended problems.
• Ensure system quality and performance through test, verification, and validation (V&V).
• Collaborate effectively with team members in a dynamic environment.
