Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Software Engineer for Starshield Flight Software to develop reliable Linux‑based applications and embedded systems for a constellation of satellites. You will work across hardware, software, and customer teams to prototype, test, and deploy sophisticated data processing and control capabilities in a mission‑critical environment.

The role requires strong C/C++/Rust skills, familiarity with container tech, and the ability to obtain/maintain a TS clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a scientific discipline or 2+ years of professional software experience.
• Experience writing reliable C/C++/Rust software for embedded or aircraft/space systems is a plus.
• Strong fundamentals in architecture, networks, debugging, and software testing.

Responsibilities

• Write high quality Linux-based C++/Rust software for distributed satellite systems.
• Develop and test software from prototype to on-orbit deployment with end customers.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on sensors, data processing, and space compute.
• Build and run test environments including hardware‑in‑the‑loop and simulations.
