Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Software Engineer for the Starshield program in Hawthorne, CA. You will write Linux‑based C++ software for embedded systems on satellites and ground equipment, and work with customers to deliver reliable data and capabilities.

This role emphasizes hands‑on development, testing, and end‑to‑end ownership across design, prototyping, and on‑orbit deployment. A Top Secret clearance is required or obtainable, with weekend hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a scientific discipline; or 2+ years of software experience.
• Development experience in C, C++, or Rust.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Write high‑quality Linux‑based C++ software for embedded satellites and ground equipment.
• End‑to‑end software lifecycle from concept to on‑orbit deployment.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design next‑gen satellite capabilities, sensors, and networks.
• Work directly with end customers to deliver quality products and data.
• Develop models and simulations for flight‑like testing and network performance analysis.
