Job summary

Protingent Staffing is seeking a Flight Software Engineer for a contract role in Round Rock, TX. You will define software architecture and develop interfaces, autonomous logic, and flight-path algorithms, while supporting tests, documentation, and customer training.

Required: a BS in Engineering and 6+ years of related experience with flight control concepts; strong C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink familiarity, and good communication skills. Domestic and international travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Computer Science or Software Engineering preferred.
• 6+ years related engineering experience required; 10+ years preferred.
• Understanding of flight control logic and automation.
• Ability to create a runtime environment for autonomous functions.
• Knowledge of software development process, object-oriented programming, and software architecture design.
• Demonstrated focus on customer satisfaction and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define software architecture.
• Design and implement operator interfaces, autonomous logic algorithms, waypoint following, and path generation algorithms.
• Support subsystem testing and verification.
• Plan, execute, and analyze flight tests.
• Support hardware/software design, test, troubleshooting, and documentation activities.
• Derive subsystem requirements and specifications.
• Perform analyses in support of requirements generation, verification, and validation.
• Prepare formal, controlled engineering documentation (test procedures, technical reports, etc.).
• Prepare and present design review material for technical interchange meetings with suppliers and internal/external customers.
• Support customer training activities.
• Travel domestically and internationally to support flight test activities.
