Job summary

UCHealth UCHlth Yampa Valley Med Center in Steamboat Springs, CO, seeks a Part-Time Flight/Transport RN to provide direct patient care during air and ground critical care transport. The role is onsite with no remote option, offering shift flexibility and hourly pay between $38.91 and $60.31 depending on experience.

Responsibilities include thorough documentation, equipment checks, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to ensure safe, high-quality transport and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program; BSN preferred.
  • Colorado RN license; multi-state compact required at hire; multi-state within six months.
  • Flight Nurse Certification (CFRN).
  • Valid driver's license. BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications mandatory.
  • Minimum 3 years ICU/ED experience; flight/EMS experience preferred; instructor certifications (BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP/TPATC/TNCC/ATCN).

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care during transport from initial contact to handoff.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient response within required timelines.
  • Ensure equipment is functional; complete vehicle and equipment checklists.
  • Collaborate across disciplines; provide safety and clinical education to referring facilities.

Work Schedule:Part Time, 48.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Pay:$38.91 - $60.31 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

Summary

Provides direct patient care during air and ground critical care transport.

Responsibilities
  • Provides patient care during all phases of the transport from initial contact until care is relinquished to appropriate team member at the accepting medical facility.
  • Documents patient assessment, evaluation, interventions, patient response to therapy, changes in condition, and procedures within the established timeframe. Participates in Pre and Post Transport briefings. Provides patient follow up to referral agencies.
  • Ensures equipment is in working order, noting any discrepancies and ensuring steps toward resolution. Completes all required vehicle and equipment checklists.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to drive success and improve outcomes. Provides safety and clinical education to referring facilities and EMS agencies as needed. Active participant in safety, education, quality, and outreach.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements
  • Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years’ experience. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

    Required Licensure: Colorado OR Multi-state compact RN License at hire. Multi-state compact Nursing License within six (6) months of hire. Flight Nurse Certification (CFRN). Valid driver's license. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP); and any one of the following: Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course (TPATC), or TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN). Tracked by department: Relevant license and certifications as determined at position level.

    Minimum Experience: 3 years ICU, Emergency department (or combination of both) experience. Preferred: Previous Flight, CCT or EMS experience. Instructor certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TPATC or TNCC or ATCN).

  • BLS - BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All renewals must be issued by the American Heart Association.
