Job summary

UCHealth is seeking a Flight Nurse for LifeLine Fixed Wing operations in Aurora, CO. This onsite, full-time role provides direct patient care during air and ground critical transport, with a flex shift and compensation ranging from $38.91 to $60.31 per hour, based on experience.

Requires CO RN license (or multistate) and CFRN certification, plus BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP and relevant trauma training. Minimum 3 years ICU/ED experience preferred; BSN encouraged.

Qualifications

  • RN license in Colorado or multi-state compact at hire.
  • Flight Nurse CFRN certification required.
  • BLS required; ACLS, PALS, NRP/NRP or equivalent training.
  • Preferred: BSN degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care during all phases of transport.
  • Document assessments, interventions and responses within required timeframes.
  • Ensure equipment is functioning and perform vehicle/equipment checks.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to improve outcomes and safety education for facilities.

Department: UCHlth LifeLine Fixed Wing

Work Schedule: Full Time, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Shift: Flex

Pay: $38.91 - $60.31 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option

Summary

Provides direct patient care during air and ground critical care transport.

Responsibilities
  • Provides patient care during all phases of the transport from initial contact until care is relinquished to appropriate team member at the accepting medical facility.
  • Documents patient assessment, evaluation, interventions, patient response to therapy, changes in condition, and procedures within the established timeframe. Participates in Pre and Post Transport briefings. Provides patient follow up to referral agencies.
  • Ensures equipment is in working order, noting any discrepancies and ensuring steps toward resolution. Completes all required vehicle and equipment checklists.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to drive success and improve outcomes. Provides safety and clinical education to referring facilities and EMS agencies as needed. Active participant in safety, education, quality, and outreach.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years' experience. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Required Licensure: Colorado OR Multi-state compact RN License at hire. Multi-state compact Nursing License within six (6) months of hire. Flight Nurse Certification (CFRN). Valid driver's license. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP); and any one of the following: Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course (TPATC), or TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN). Tracked by department: Relevant license and certifications as determined at position level.
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years ICU, Emergency department (or combination of both) experience. Preferred: Previous Flight, CCT or EMS experience. Instructor certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TPATC or TNCC or ATCN).
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
