Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Paramedic to join the LifeFlight Air Ambulance team. The role supports patient care in hospital, out-of-hospital, aircraft, and ground ambulance environments, providing leadership and collaboration with the care team.

Responsibilities include assessments, care planning, documentation, and applying the nursing process within the Iowa Paramedics scope of practice; travel to UPH facilities may be needed. A mix of PRN and full-time shifts is available.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Paramedic in Iowa.
• Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) required upon hire.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications (or obtain within three months of hire).

Responsibilities

• Assesses the needs of patients and families and provides teaching and referrals for continuity of care.
• Develops an individual plan of care in collaboration with patient/family and health care team.
• Completes documentation promptly to assure an accurate legal record of care.
• Delivers high quality care using the nursing process and the paramedic scope of practice.
• Delegates and directs other health care team members within their scope of practice.
