Job summary

UNC Health Care System is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Pediatric/Neonatal Critical Care Transport Team (Carolina Air Care). The 36-hour weekly role involves rotating shifts and bases, working in helicopter and ground transport environments, with weight and lift restrictions in place for safety.

Qualified candidates will have NICU/PICU experience (minimum 3 years, 5 preferred), valid NC RN license, and current ACLS/BLS/PALS.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• Current ACLS, BLS-Healthcare Provider, and PALS required prior to interview.

Responsibilities

• Education: participates in identifying learning needs and attends relevant programs; uses patient education materials for families.
• Evaluation of Care: identifies expected outcomes and participates in plan evaluation with the team.
• Implementation: provides care for patients with complex problems, performs bedside testing, follows policies and procedures, prioritizes care.
• Leadership: helps develop unit goals and fosters teamwork and cost-effective care.
• Patient Assessment: recognizes data to set care priorities and plans for discharge needs.
• Planning: collaborates with patient/family to update the plan of care and coordinates with multidisciplinary resources.
• Research: reads relevant journals and brings ideas to the team for assessment.
