Job summary

Life Flight Network in Kona, HI seeks a Flight Nurse to work with a Flight Paramedic delivering advanced critical care. You will be responsible for direct patient care in accordance with our guidelines and protocols, and may cover varied shifts on fixed-wing aircraft or ambulance.

The role requires five years of ICU/ED/Trauma experience, current RN license, BLS/ACLS/PALS, and TPATC/CFRN readiness. Strong leadership and adaptability are essential in this high-stakes environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of ICU/ED/Trauma experience within the last ten (10) years.
• Previous flight experience preferred; may substitute year-for-year for ICU/ED/Trauma requirement.
• Current licensure and/or certification: RN license appropriate to location, BLS, ACLS, PALS, TPATC; CFRN timing:** CFRN exam within 1 year; certification within 2 years.
• CEN or CCRN strongly preferred until CFRN certification.
• Drivers must have a valid state driver’s license with at least three years of driving experience.
• Airport badge maintenance and potential passport/Canada entry as location demands.
• Weight restrictions compliance (max 250 pounds fully outfitted).
• Strong leadership and communication in stressful situations; ability to work varied shifts for fixed wing/ambulance.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care alongside Flight Paramedic for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Document patient care thoroughly per Life Flight Network standards.
• Provide follow-up to referring hospitals or agencies as needed.
• Assist with equipment retrieval, restocking, and in-flight readiness of aircraft.
• Assist with inventories, monthly checks, and supply ordering; keep equipment in working order.
• Support day-to-day operations of Life Flight Network and participate in special projects as assigned.
