Job summary

Leidos is seeking a skilled Flight Dynamicist to advance modeling and simulation for missiles, hypersonics, launch vehicles, and space systems. You will develop 3DOF/6DOF dynamics, perform trajectory design, and implement GNC algorithms within multi-disciplinary teams.

The role requires a strong background in aerospace dynamics, matrix-free optimization, and the ability to work across aerodynamics, propulsion, and systems engineering in a fast-paced environment. Active clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field from ABET-accredited institution.
• 8–10 years in flight dynamics, trajectory analysis, or mission design.
• Experience with 3DOF/6DOF vehicle simulations and flight mechanics knowledge.
• Experience with modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Python, STK, GMAT).
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and support DoD/space programs.
• Active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain higher clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze 3DOF and 6DOF flight dynamics models across full flight envelope.
• Design, execute and optimize trajectory studies for missiles, hypersonics, and space systems.
• Create and validate GNC algorithms including autopilot and terminal guidance.
• Develop high-fidelity simulations to support concept development and testing.
