Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced Flight Communications/Dispatch Specialist to manage MedCenter Air operations. You will coordinate helicopter and ground transport requests, assign appropriate units, and maintain patient documentation with emphasis on safety and timeliness.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, EMT certification (within one year), and relevant dispatching/flight coordination experience. IAMTCS CFC certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; associates degree preferred.
• Current EMT certification required or within one year of hire.
• EMT-P certification preferred.
• IAMTCS Certified Flight Communicator (CFC) within one year or equivalent.
• 2 years EMS/Fire/Law Enforcement/Critical Care dispatching experience preferred.
• 1 year flight coordination (Rotor and/or Fixed Wing) experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates MedCenter Air radios, computer systems, and equipment.
• Knows range, capabilities, and limitations of aircraft and vehicles.
• Assigns the most appropriate transport mode for each request.
• Coordinates all mission aspects and monitors transport units for safety.
• Maintains pre- and post-transport patient documentation and transport records.
• Confirms prescheduled transports on the day of transport.
• Demonstrates cost-effective use of supplies and equipment.
• Submits department changes and credits in a timely manner.
