Job summary

Pivotal is hiring a Data Engineer to build and operate the flight data warehouse, turning telemetry into curated datasets and dashboards for multiple teams. You will own end-to-end pipelines, data models, and monitoring in a small production platform team.

The role emphasizes collaboration with firmware, GNC, battery, and MRO teams, with an on-site HQ in Palo Alto and a pay range of $60–$70 per hour.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, computer/EE, or related technical discipline.
• 3+ years of professional data engineering experience building and operating production pipelines.
• Strong SQL, including window functions and query tuning on distributed engines.
• Proficient in Python for production services, packaging, tests, and code review.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data stack: S3, Glue, Athena, Lambda, SNS, CloudWatch, IAM.
• Excellent analytical and written communication skills across teams.

Responsibilities

• Pipeline development: build and maintain ingest and transformation pipelines for telemetry data.
• Data modeling: design curated marts with clear grain and lineage.
• Fleet alerting: develop Python services delivering alerts via SNS/Slack.
• Data quality: own automated quality gates and block faulty deployments.
• Analytics enablement: build dashboards and reusable datasets for engineering teams.
• Collaboration: work with firmware, GNC, battery, and operations teams.
