Job summary

Garmin is seeking a full-time Flight Controls Systems Engineer Intern at our U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

You will learn to support the conception, development, and certification of advanced avionics systems, documenting requirements and assisting system design and validation for autopilot/flight director applications. You will work with cross-functional teams on electrical, software, and mechanical development, contributing to system performance analyses and compliance

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or other related field.
  • Excellent academics (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA).
  • Experience and/or training in working with cross functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship skills.
  • Other education and/or experiences as required for the specific projects this individual will develop.
  • Strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineers to maintain and communicate requirements, allocate requirements among subsystems, and assure compatibility among subsystems so that the product ultimately meets its final objectives.
  • Participate in product design activities including electrical, software, or mechanical development.
  • Conduct verification and validation testing in accordance with formal or informal test plans.
  • Help develop systems requirements for autopilot/flight director systems including system performance, system interfaces, architecture, and algorithms.
  • Analyze and test existing autopilot systems to determine transport delays and appropriate control system response.
