Job summary

American Preparatory Academy is seeking a Substitute Teacher to cover classrooms as needed in West Valley City. You will substitute at least 4 days per month, preparing reading, math, and spelling groups and supporting teachers during class time.

You may participate in DIBELS assessments and supervise lunch, recess, and transitions, with potential travel between campuses to fill vacancies and support student learning.

Qualifications

• Prepared to substitute on short notice with immediate responsiveness.
• Willing to work at least 4 days per month throughout the school year.
• Ability to coordinate home, family, work, and school responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Attend Direct Instruction training in the summer.
• Substitute at least 4 days each month when school is in session.
• Prepare to teach reading, math, and spelling groups.
• Read scripts and follow teacher instructions.
• Keep classroom management standards high.
• Supervise lunch and recess and transitions to activities.
• Report problems to homeroom teacher or staff.
• Attend meetings when applicable.
• Work closely with staff to keep students safe and engaged.
