Job summary

Henry County School District seeks Substitute Paraprofessionals for the 2026/2027 school year to cover daily paraprofessional staff absences district-wide.

Under the direction of certified staff, you will assist students with special needs in academics and daily activities, follow a strict schedule, and assist with diapering needs. You will help students and teachers work toward IEP goals.

Qualifications

• MUST hold a valid Illinois ELS (Paraprofessional) license or Professional Educator License (PEL).
• Physically able to assist students throughout the building.
• Basic math and computer skills, plus some general office skills.
• Experience with special needs children preferred.
• Good written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate with staff, parents and students.

Responsibilities

• Substitute on an as-needed basis to cover daily paraprofessional staff absences.
• Assist students with special needs during academics and daily school activities.
• Support students in following a strict schedule and diapering needs.
• Aid the students and teacher to ensure progress toward IEP goals.
