American Forest Management offers a 2027 Summer Internship in Ironwood, MI. Join a team of foresters for a hands-on, mentored experience in consulting forestry, including inventory work, GIS/GPS applications, and field inspections.

You’ll gain real-world learning, build critical thinking, and develop data analysis skills in an outdoor setting. Applicants should be pursuing forestry or related degrees, with enthusiasm for consulting forestry and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or a related field.
• Enthusiastic about a future in consulting forestry.
• Previous experience in forest inventory is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with GIS/GPS software and tools is beneficial.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, contractors, and managers.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be comfortable working in various outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with experienced foresters on inventory work and field tasks.
• Assist with timber sale layout and tract inspections.
• Engage in GIS/GPS applications and data collection.
• Develop field navigation and data analysis skills outdoors.
