Job summary

American Forest Management in Houghton, MI offers a 2027 Summer Internship for students pursuing Forestry, Natural Resources, or related fields. Interns collaborate with experienced foresters on inventory work, timber layout, streamside buffers, and GIS/GPS applications, while gaining field experience across tract inspections.

You will develop critical thinking, data analysis, and navigation skills through hands-on training and mentorship, in a supportive, outdoor environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or related field.
• Enthusiastic about consulting forestry.
• Experience in forest inventory is a plus.
• Proficient in Excel and Word; familiarity with GIS/GPS software beneficial.
• Strong communication and ability to collaborate with team members.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with foresters on inventory work, timber sale layout, streamside buffer delineation, harvesting inspections, GIS/GPS applications, and tract inspections.
