Job summary

Sheridan School District seeks a Substitute Bus Driver to provide safe student transportation as needed. You will assist with trips, maintain safety, and communicate with schools and families.

This is an as-needed, at-will role requiring flexible hours and adherence to district procedures. The position requires a valid CDL Class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsements, and you must be at least 21 years old.

Qualifications

• High school graduate preferred/required consistent with district requirements.
• No prior bus driver experience required.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must have or obtain CDL Class B with P and S endorsements per District requirements.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre- and post-trip safety inspections and reports safety or mechanical concerns.
• Drives routes and transports students safely to and from school and events.
• Discharges students at authorized stops and follows routes and procedures.
• Instructs passengers on safety procedures and participates in emergency drills.
• Maintains order and reports safety concerns to the Transportation Supervisor.
• Provides transportation for field trips and district activities as assigned.
• Follows laws, regulations, district policies, and safety requirements.
• Communicates professionally with students, families, staff and community.
• Accepts substitute assignments and works flexible schedules as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
