Job summary

Apscareerportal in Iowa is seeking a part-time Resident Assistant to support residents who require 24-hour oversight. You will assist with activities of daily living and help maintain residents' independence and freedom of choice.

Minimum of 16 hours per month with holiday and weekend rotation; you must be able to think and act in routine and emergency situations, and fluency in English is required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to think, act and intervene independently in routine and emergency situations.
• Must be self-motivated and function as an “in-charge person”.
• Must be able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.
• Must be able to work flexible hours and participate in holiday activities.
• Must read, write and speak fluent English.
• Regular attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents who are functionally, physically, and/or socially impaired and need 24-hour oversight.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living that they are unable to perform without some form of assist.
• Foster at all times the resident’s independence and freedom of choice.
