Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Surgical Services RN for a PRN float pool across Charlotte and Winston-Salem facilities. The role requires a current NC RN license, BLS, ACLS preferred, and at least 2 years of Pre-OP and PACU experience in inpatient and ambulatory settings.

Qualifications

RN license in NC or compact state (current)
BLS required; ACLS preferred
2 years of Pre-OP and PACU experience in inpatient & ASC settings
Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments including history, allergies, medications, and baseline vitals.
Initiate IV access and administer pre-operative meds; manage post-operative pain, nausea, vomiting, and recovery symptoms.
Prepare patients for surgery with education on procedures, anesthesia, and post‑operative care.
Monitor airway, respiratory status, oxygenation, circulation, neurological status, and pain during recovery.
Perform post-anesthesia assessments and recognize complications needing intervention.
Assess surgical sites, drains, dressings, and drainage for signs of issues.
Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; respond to changes in condition.
