American Family Care in Pelham (AL) is hiring PRN Medical Assistants to support urgent care centers across AL, CT, FL, GA, MA & TN.

In this flexible role, you will blend clinical duties with front desk tasks, maintain EMR accuracy, and help ensure smooth patient flow.

The position offers a minimum of 4 shifts per month with opportunities to pick up more, along with a competitive benefits package for PRN/part-time status.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Active BLS certification required or must be obtained within onboarding period.
• Urgent care or emergency room experience valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals (Waystar).
• Proven venipuncture and specimen collection skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals, and assist with procedures.
• Register patients, verify insurance, determine financial responsibility, and collect co-pays.
• Educate patients on procedures and costs; provide clear discharge instructions.
• Participate in daily huddles, maintain compliance logs, and support HIPAA standards.
