Job summary

Advanced Health Care seeks a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support our rehabilitation program. You will work with licensed Occupational Therapists to assess residents’ needs, implement treatment plans, and help residents regain independence in daily activities.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, document progress, and contribute to discharge planning while staying current on best practices in occupational therapy.

Qualifications

• Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is required.
• 1–2 years of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility is preferred.
• State licensure or eligibility for licensure as a COTA in the work state is required.
• Clinical experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar setting is preferred.
• Strong clinical skills in providing rehabilitative services to residents with varying diagnoses and functional limitations.
• Ability to build rapport with residents through a compassionate demeanor.
• Commitment to resident-centered, high-quality care with empathy and compassion.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for teamwork with residents, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist OTs in conducting assessments of residents’ physical, cognitive, and psychosocial functioning.
• Implement individualized treatment plans with therapeutic exercises and interventions.
• Provide hands-on guidance during therapy sessions with emphasis on safety and outcomes.
• Utilize adaptive equipment and environmental modifications to promote independence.
• Document resident progress and treatment outcomes accurately and timely.
• Coordinate care with OT, nursing staff, and other team members.
• Educate residents and families on therapeutic techniques and strategies.
• Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and discharge planning discussions.
• Stay current with best practices and regulatory changes in occupational therapy.
