Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant to support urgent care centers across AL, CT, FL, GA, MA & TN. You will blend clinical care with front-desk responsibilities, handling triage, exams, and insurance verification while maintaining EMR accuracy.

The role requires an accredited MA program, active national MA certification, 1+ year of related experience, and BLS. Flexibility for evenings/weekends and cross-site coverage is expected.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration
• Active BLS certification required or must be obtained within onboarding period.
• Urgent care or ER experience valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals (Waystar).
• Venipuncture and specimen collection skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals and histories, venipuncture and CLIA-waived testing.
• Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, collect co-pays, and maintain EMR accuracy.
• Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations, provide discharge instructions.
• Participate in daily huddles and maintain compliance logs; support HIPAA standards.
