Job summary

American Family Care's corporate-operated urgent care centers across AL, CT, FL, GA, MA & TN are hiring PRN Medical Assistants. In this flexible role, you’ll blend clinical care with patient registration and insurance verification, picking up at least 4 shifts per month.

You’ll greet and triage patients, perform venipuncture and CLIA-waived tests, verify insurance, collect co-pays, and maintain EMR accuracy.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Active BLS certification required or obtained within onboarding.
• Urgent care or emergency room experience highly valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred) and comfort with payer portals (Waystar).

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals and histories, venipuncture, and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing.
• Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, reconcile logs, and maintain EMR accuracy.
• Educate patients on clinical procedures and financial expectations, provide discharge instructions, and de-escalate concerns with empathy.
• Participate in daily huddles, maintain compliance logs (HIPAA, infection-control), and support standards.
