Job summary

AMN Healthcare Language Services seeks qualified InPerson Interpreters to provide onsite interpretation for LEP patients across medical settings in the U.S. This freelance role offers flexible scheduling and access to the AMN IPI App for sessions daily.

Applicants should be credentialed, adhere to medical interpreting ethics, and have a HIPAA certificate valid within the last year. Must be eligible to work in the US with reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and another language with strong verbal communication.
• Knowledge of ethics and practice standards (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC).
• HIPAA Training for Business Associates certificate (within the last year).
• Proof of language proficiency via a medical language assessment (LangStat, Reach Diversity, Language Testing Intl).
• Accredited Medical Interpreting Training course (ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training, 40-hour programs).

Responsibilities

• Provide effective onsite interpreting service for consumers.
• Maintain professional appearance, punctuality, and preparedness for shifts.
• Adapt quickly to new and changing technologies.
• Pass screening before taking on in-person commitments.
• Adhere to interpreter ethics and procedural requirements for medical contexts.
• Respect LEP clients and cultural beliefs related to medical procedures.
• Demonstrate strong customer service and interpreting aptitude.
