Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care in an outpatient clinic setting. The role interacts with a franchised AFC location, with duties varying by franchise.

Responsibilities span vitals collection, patient prep, tests, specimen handling, immunizations, referrals, and thorough documentation, within a supportive small-business environment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree (A.A.) or six months to one year related experience.
• AMT registered and AAMA certification preferred.
• Ability to perform basic lab tasks and specimen collection.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per approved procedures.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing or in-house processing.
• Perform lab tests and quality controls per instructions.
• Respond to lab messages and call back requests.
• Conduct drug screening procedures per rules and regulations.
• Document immunizations accurately and administer as needed.
• Coordinate physician referrals and pre-certifications as required.
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments and supplies.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
