Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care in an outpatient clinic setting within a franchised AFC location. The role works with patients, supports physicians, and ensures efficient clinical workflows across duties and tests.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate degree or equivalent, with AMT registration and AAMA certification preferred. Franchised setting may affect duties and benefits. AFC centers operate walk-in care seven days a week.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training.
• AMT registration and AAMA Certification are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance
• Respond to lab messages and call back requests
• Perform drug screening procedures per rules and regulations
• Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered
• Conduct physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments and supplies
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties as assigned
