Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center is seeking a flexible phlebotomist to join our Oshkosh-area lab team. The role involves drawing blood, collecting specimens from patients of all ages, and ensuring proper labeling and handling according to protocol.

This float position is based mainly at the Oshkosh Westhaven Clinic with occasional coverage at Fond du Lac. Typical schedule is four 8-hour shifts weekly, with some weekend coverage, starting as early as 7:00 a.m. and ending as late as 6:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• No prior experience required.
• Phlebotomy knowledge and computer basics are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient ID and ensure safety during procedures.
• Perform venipuncture and collect specimens from newborns to adults.
• Label specimens correctly and resolve identification issues.
• Conduct limited testing under CLIA guidelines per policy.
• Answer calls and support inventory and billing tasks.
• Receive, sort, package and track specimens for transport.
• Order and verify test requests; document QA data.
• Instruct staff and students in phlebotomy and specimen processing.
