Chess Wizards, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic instructors to join its after-school enrichment program in the Washington, DC area. Lead fun, interactive chess classes for elementary students, using a structured curriculum to teach fundamentals and sportsmanship.

You will travel between local school sites, arrive prepared, and maintain a positive classroom environment while promoting problem-solving and critical thinking. Comfortable guiding activities and supervising sessions is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar).
• Ability to lead a class independently and create interactive, friendly sessions.
• Professional, positive, and kid-friendly demeanor.
• Strong understanding of chess fundamentals and ability to explain moves and basic tactics to kids.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel between locations.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Use structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and promote good sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrival, dismissal, and in-class activities.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students.
