Job summary

ARAUCO in Bennettsville is seeking a Flex/Utility Technician to join the team. The role emphasizes safe housekeeping, operation of forklifts and production equipment, and strict adherence to safety procedures in a mill environment.

The position requires a Monday–Friday schedule with potential nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts as needed. Career development and strong teamwork are valued as part of this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; more education is a plus.
• Ability to move freely throughout the facility, climb stairs and ladders, and navigate around equipment.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods (12 hours).
• Prior forklift experience and manufacturing environment exposure preferred.
• Endurance to work in dusty, noisy, hot environments with varying temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe housekeeping in the Raw Board Press and production areas, remove waste and hazards.
• Operate equipment including forklifts, floor sweepers, Guzzlers, skid steer loaders, manlifts, gas monitors, and respirators after training.
• Follow LOTO, confined spaces, fire safety, PPE, SOP and other procedures.
• Perform routine inspections and PMs, including Minimax system checks.
• Assist with cleaning during outages and guide contractors when needed.
• Communicate performance and equipment concerns with Control Room, Quality, Maintenance and Leadership teams.
• Create maintenance notifications and follow up to ensure work is completed.
• Participate in safety programs and training, report incidents, and keep the workplace clean and responsible.
• Assist with additional mill work as needed; work safely around dust, chemicals, and high temperatures.

This role is primarily scheduled Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Candidates must also be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call as operational needs require.

What we are looking for:

• High School Diploma or GED required. Additional education is a plus
• Ability to move freely throughout the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders, and navigating around equipment and machinery
• Must lift 50 lbs. and walk/stand for a minimum of 12 hours. Walking up and down stairs and throughout the mill for 12 hours

• We prefer prior use of a forklift (12 months) and prior work in a manufacturing environment
• Endurance to stand and walk for extended periods, often in environments with dust, chemicals, high noise levels and varying temperatures.

In this role, you would:

• Maintain safe and consistent housekeeping throughout the Raw Board Press and surrounding production areas, including removal of wood fiber, waste, spills, and other potential fire hazards
• Operate equipment such as forklifts, floor sweepers, Guzzlers, skid steer loaders, manlifts, gas monitors, and required respirators after completing appropriate training
• Follow all LOTO, confined space, fire safety, PPE, SOP, and other established safety procedures
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities, including Minimax system inspections and other assigned PMs
• Support equipment cleaning during maintenance outages and provide guidance to contractors or serve as an attendant during confined space work when required
• Communicate area performance, equipment concerns, and upset conditions with the Control Room, Quality, Maintenance, and Leadership teams
• Create maintenance notifications for equipment issues and follow up as needed to help ensure work is completed
• Participate in required safety programs and training, report incidents or near-misses, and help maintain a clean, organized, and environmentally responsible workplace
• Assist with additional work throughout the mill as needed
• Work safely in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, and high temperatures, including physical activity such as standing, climbing, lifting, pushing, and pulling
