Job summary

Arauco North America, Inc. in Moncure, NC is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support electrical and mechanical reliability in a fast-paced mill environment.

The role starts on dayshift with potential rotation to a 12-hour schedule based on business needs. Candidates should have a two-year mechanical degree, a high school diploma, and at least five years of industrial mechanical experience in bearings, hydraulics, pumps, and gearboxes, plus welding/fabrication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to mill breakdowns and work with area operators to resolve issues.
  • Maintain Maintenance Logbook and update it at end of shift.
  • Develop PMs for the area and coordinate with planners.
  • Communicate maintenance issues to Operators, PICs and peers.
  • Interface with Area Planner to coordinate daily work schedules.
  • Support Asset Reliability Process and maintain uptime across areas.

This role will start training on dayshift, but is subject to move to a 12 hour rotating shift schedule, based on business needs.

What we are looking for:

Two-year Degree in Mechanical studies.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

5 years industrial mechanical skills experience (bearings, hydraulics, pumps, gearboxes).

Industrial welding and fabrication experience

Industrial mechanical troubleshooting skills

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.

Familiarity of the basic functions of SAP (not required)

Strong written and communication skills

Ability to work extended hours and rotating shift as required.

Ability to work at heights, in hot, noisy & dirty environments required.

Ability to lift 50 Ibs required.

Proven ability to be self-motivated is required.

In this role, you would:

Respond to mill breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner, working closely with area operators to resolve maintenance related issues.

Maintain Maintenance Logbook ensuring it is current at the end of each shift.

Take ownership of assigned Area and show support for the Area Management initiative within the mill. This includes knowing the downtime, quality and safety issues in your Area and work to resolve them.

Assist in developing PMs for your area.

Daily interaction with Area Operators and PIC’s to know and address their issues.

Communicate maintenance issues to Operators, PIC’s, Planners, and peers in an effective and efficient manner.

Interface with Area Planner to coordinate down day & daily work schedules.

Work with other crafts & operators to increase uptime reliability. Assist other crafts during breakdowns.

Check the ‘Action Log’ daily and work with the Area Planner to get items in your Area resolved.

Investigate the root cause of equipment failure and make recommendations for long term fix.

Enter appropriate work requests for required follow-up work.

Complete assigned work orders or other PM/PdM activities as assigned.

Seek to continually improve skill-set (with vendor training, web based training, seminars, etc).

Attend and participate in maintenance crew meetings and other group functional meetings and training.

Support the Asset Reliability Process (ARP) as it is rolled out. This includes Area Management, Planning & Scheduling, Daily Schedules, etc.

Support the crew to maintain activities for meeting, training, and on-shift vacation coverage.

Wear radio and respond to issues in your area when needed. Let operations and peers know about changes made while on shift.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to move freely throughout the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders, and navigating around equipment and machinery.

Ability to bend, stoop, and crouch as necessary to inspect and maintain equipment.

Capability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up 70 pounds.

Ability to perform physical tasks that involve lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objects.

Endurance to stand and walk for extended periods, often in environments with dust, chemicals, high noise levels and varying temperatures.
