Job summary

Dorner Manufacturing, a Columbus McKinnon Organization in Waukesha County, seeks a flexible Flex Technician to support multiple departments and keep production moving.

This role crosses Assembly, Shipping & Receiving, and Fabrication, requiring adaptability, careful attention to detail, and the ability to learn new processes.

You’ll work Monday–Friday, 6am–2:30pm, with a competitive hourly wage and a benefits package that includes health insurance, paid holidays, and a 401(k) match.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Forklift certification (sit-down) and overhead crane use or willingness to obtain via training.

Responsibilities

• Flex between departments based on staffing needs, production schedules, or priority changes.
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, 5S, and company policies as required.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth handoffs between departments.
• Participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform mechanical and/or electrical assembly of components and finished products according to work instructions and quality standards.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and measurement devices safely and accurately.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material-handling equipment (training provided if needed).
• Assist with basic fabrication tasks such as cutting, drilling, grinding, or machine operation.
• Use of proper processes, procedures and OMS instructions, cycle counting procedures.
• Perform preventative maintenance duties on machines & equipment as required.

Job Summary/Overview

The Flex Technician is a versatile, cross‑trained team member who supports multiple operational areas within the manufacturing facility. This role “flexes” between Assembly, Shipping & Receiving, and Fabrication based on daily production needs. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail‑oriented, and comfortable learning new processes to ensure smooth workflow across departments.

• - Mechanical aptitude and solid blueprint reading skills.
• - Ability to deal with ambiguous/undefined problems.
• - Ability to be flexible and adjust priories to reflect changing needs or job demands.
• - Attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

• - Highschool diploma or equivalent.
• - 2 + years of experience in a Manufacturing Environment is preferred.
• - Certification for sit‑down forklift, Raymond and use of overhead crane or the willingness to obtain via training.
• - Ability to safely lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs.

Compensation

$20+ per hour based on experience
