Job summary

Dorner Manufacturing in Wisconsin is seeking a Flex Technician to support Assembly, Shipping & Receiving, and Fabrication. The role requires adaptability, attention to detail, and a readiness to learn new processes to keep workflow smooth.

As a versatile, cross-trained team member, you will flex between departments, uphold safety procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while using various tools and equipment to assemble components to specification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of manufacturing experience preferred.
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain via training.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs safely.

Responsibilities

• Flex between Assembly, Shipping & Receiving, and Fabrication as needed.
• Follow safety procedures, PPE, 5S, and company policies.
• Communicate with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth handoffs.
• Participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform mechanical and electrical assembly per work instructions and quality standards.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and measurement devices safely.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material-handling equipment (training provided).
• Assist with basic fabrication tasks such as cutting, drilling, grinding, or machine operation.
• Use of proper processes, procedures and OMS instructions, cycle counting procedures.
• Perform preventative maintenance duties on machines & equipment as required.

Job Summary/Overview

The Flex Technician is a versatile, cross-trained team member who supports multiple operational areas within the manufacturing facility. This role flexes between Assembly, Shipping & Receiving, and Fabrication based on daily production needs. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable learning new processes to ensure smooth workflow across departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Flex between departments based on staffing needs, production schedules, or priority changes.
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements 5S, and company policies as required.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth handoffs between departments.
• Participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform mechanical and/or electrical assembly of components and finished products according to work instructions and quality standards.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and measurement devices safely and accurately.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material-handling equipment (training provided if needed).
• Assist with basic fabrication tasks such as cutting, drilling, grinding, or machine operation.
• Use of proper processes, procedures and OMS instructions, cycle counting procedures.
• Perform preventative maintenance duties on machines & equipment as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

• A team player with excellent communication skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and solid blueprint reading skills.
• Ability to deal with ambiguous/undefined problems.
• Ability to be flexible and adjust priories to reflect changing needs or job demands.

Required Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent.
• 2 + years of experience in a Manufacturing Environment is preferred.
• Certification for sit-down forklift, Raymond and use of overhead crane or the willingness to obtain via training.
• Ability to safely lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs.

Compensation

$20+ per hour based on experience
